Day 5 of our trek to EBC
We began our journey from Tengboche to Dingboche. A downhill trek at the start we crossed a forest that looked straight out of an elfish fairy tale. Wisps of vines and creepers hung from the trees giving them a fascinating eerie look. We crossed another picturesque bridge on the Dhudh Kosi river and stopped for tea at a tea house at Pangboche village. The owner of the tea house, Ang Temba is a celebrated Sherpa guide and we got to see brilliant pictures taken by him exhibited at the tea house. One of them was a picture of the yeti footprints in the snow!
Mt. Ama Dablam
After piping hot lemon tea, we proceeded towards Shomare – Upper Pangboche for lunch. We finally crossed 4000 meters in altitude! Post lunch, we walked on plateaus above the tree line; saw the origin of Dhudh kosi river – tributaries from Everest and Island Peak, white waters that offset the rustic brown of the landscape. Finally nestled in a valley with yaks grazing on the plains, we saw Dingboche and amid drizzling ice arrived at the cozy Family Lodge to spend the night.
